Hearing the Gospel

Hearing the Gospel Our sessions of Hearing the Gospel meets every week using Zoom (Meeting ID # 591 492 036).  At our meetings, we read the appointed Gospel for the coming Sunday, using a lectio divina format. Most of our readings this Fall will be from Matthew.  We discuss how the reading was interpreted in Jesus’ time and what it means to us today.

No preparation is necessary, and all members of the parish and friends are welcome.  Our meetings last about an hour, closing with Noonday Prayer. We have been using Zoom ever since the church buildings closed in March and, while we miss seeing each other in person, we’re glad we have a vehicle for continuing our spiritual journey.  Several folks that were unable to attend meetings at the church have since joined us via Zoom.  If you haven’t participated in the past, please think and pray about joining us. Click here for the Zoom video link. Questions may be sent to Bill Hill, hillgolf@bellsouth.net.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

The main fundraising project of the Men’s Fellowship is the Pancake Supper, prepared and hosted at St. Andrew’s each year on Shrove Tuesday. Proceeds from this and other projects are distributed to outreach and community needs such as Weaver House, as well as providing revenue for our own budget.

Last February the Men’s Fellowship hosted its annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Family tickets were $15; singles $7 each. Door prizes were included! Plan to join us for food, fellowship and fun if we’re able to regather.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

The major thrust of ECW is service within our church, and local and statewide outreach. In all we do, our hearts are open to God’s call to serve; through serving together, we find that we build strong relationships with each other and our community.

ECW also contributes to Diocesan-wide projects that assist women with education, jobs, and day care, as well as organizing the United Thank Offering twice a year. Monies raised are allocated to a wide variety of local, Diocesan, and international initiatives. The strength of ECW is the power of women working together to support one another, St. Andrew’s, and the larger community.

There are two ECW chapters at St.Andrew’s: Sts. Agatha and Mary Chapter, and Donnell/St. Anne Chapter.  The Chapters meet once a month at the church during the school year for a program and fellowship:  Sts Agatha and Mary at 7pm on the 2nd Monday and Donnell/St Anne at 10:30am on the 2nd Wednesday.  All women of the church are automatically members of the ECW, and are cordially invited to become active participants in this wonderful organization!

St. Andrew’s Men’s Retreat

The men of St. Andrew’s held a virtual “Mini Retreat” on Saturday, October 31stt, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. This time together marks a continuation of our retreats of the last two years and, we pray, will serve as a bridge to a full retreat when we can be together in person once again.

There is a really deep well inside me. And in it dwells God. Sometimes I am there, too … And that is all we can manage these days and also all that really matters: that we safeguard that little piece of You, God, in ourselves.
